Privacy policy

Moodboard Studio is operated by Tutor Aid Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom, which is the data controller for everything described here. You can reach us at moodboardstudiosupport@gmail.com.
The short version: we collect the minimum the tool needs to work, we run no analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies, and we never sell data. The rest of this page says the same thing in more detail.
Using the tool without an account
You can generate and edit boards without signing in. Those boards are stored in your own browser's local storage and never reach our servers — we cannot see them, and clearing your browser data deletes them. What does reach our servers is what any web request carries: your IP address and the search queries the generator runs, which our hosting provider (Google) logs transiently for security and abuse prevention.
If you sign in
Sign-in is with a Google account, through Google's Firebase Authentication. We receive your email address and a user ID. We never see your password. We use the email address to identify your account and for nothing else — there is no mailing list.
Boards you save
A saved board — its images' addresses, layout, colours, title and brief — is stored against your account in Google's Firestore database so it can follow you across devices. It stays until you delete it, which you can do from the app at any time.
Boards you share
Sharing a board creates a public link. Anyone who has the link can view that board, including its title and brief. You can revoke a link at any time from the app; a revoked link stops working immediately.
Pinterest, if you connect it
Connecting Pinterest asks for read-only access to your boards and pins, so the tool can show them to you and place them on your boards. We store the access token this produces, and nothing else from your Pinterest account. Disconnecting — one button in the app — deletes the token from our systems immediately. We never post to Pinterest, and we never read anyone's pins but your own.
Image searches
The generator's searches go to Unsplash through our server. The query is the text of your brief; no account information travels with it. Unsplash's own privacy policy covers what they do with searches on their side.
Payments, when they launch
Paid plans are not live yet. When they are, payment will be processed by Stripe — card details will go directly to Stripe and will never touch our servers. This policy will be updated when that happens.
Where the data lives
Our servers run on Google Cloud in Europe (europe-west1, Belgium). Google acts as our data processor; their commitments are in the Google Cloud Data Processing Addendum.
What we never do
- No analytics or behavioural tracking of any kind.
- No advertising and no advertising partners.
- No tracking cookies — the only browser storage we use is what keeps you signed in and what holds your local boards.
- No selling, renting or trading of personal data, to anyone, ever.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — including your whole account. Email moodboardstudiosupport@gmail.com and we will act on it within a month. If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the new text appears here before it takes effect. We will not quietly widen what we collect.
